An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 3 Ward Clerk to join the team on Samphire Ward on a full-time basis. Samphire Ward is an acute mental health ward for working-aged adults.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated, proactive and well-organised. They will be able to manage their workload effectively and prioritise tasks accordingly. This role will be primarily based in the ward office and naturally, this will involve contact with service users, families and carers.
Some of the roles and responsibilities that may be included within the Ward Clerk position are:
Triaging telephone calls made to the Nursing Office and providing information as appropriate.
Relaying information and messages as required.
A proactive approach in supporting clinician workload by streamlining admin duties of patient facing staff.
To be based in the ward office – it is a clinically facing admin role that may require liaising with service users and their relatives/carers for updates etc.
Discussions with internal and external professionals as appropriate.
Printing/scanning/collating clinical documentation as required for clinicians on shift. This could include sending prescription requests on behalf of the nursing team to Pharmacy.
Ensuring that outstanding tasks are diarised and updated and supporting with any actions from MDT meetings.
Monitoring that forms and stationery required for the clinical team are well-stocked.
Some interaction with service users such as supporting them to make phone calls, IT access etc.
Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required of you by the service.
To operate desktop computer and formulate correspondence as requested.
To have a good working knowledge of Lorenzo.
Professional approach at all times in supporting with duties.

Experience in similar job roles would be preferred such as Ward Clerk/Medical Receptionist however, this vacancy this is open to all applicants.
